so, we don't believe in Santa in this Kesten household. i might sound mean, i might sound like a scrooge but we just don't do it. as a kid, my parents will vouch for me when i say, i never believed in Santa. the concept of a man flying around to every single person's house in one night, just didn't make sense... let alone all of the "chimney/magic" issues you needed to deal with.
scott makes fun of me that i am an elitist or too cerebral about the notion but really, it was just being logical :) i have always felt like that so i am not changing. we haven't and won't push the notion of santa in our house. many people think not believing in santa is a "mormon thing" (as most of my friends are different religions) but no, it is ME thing and scott complies :)
to us, santa represents christmas but really has no purpose. my hope is my stubbornness will segway for us to focus on the true meaning of christmas more: Jesus Christ and giving to others..... we will see how long it lasts and i might update this every once...
*2009*
Josh didn't seem to interested in the the idea of santa so we left it at that.. presents were out and under the tree starting in mid december.
*2010*
Josh asked about santa this year and why kids in his class were so excited about him. he wondered if they were going to get gifts... (as i laughed under my breath)... i explained some kids believe santa comes on christmas eve and that's OK. he responded: "well, i know santa is just a funny guy and you guys buy me my presents and that is better b/c you know what i want"
... that's my boy :)
